Morrissey Will No Longer Perform At Non-Vegetarian Venues
The former frontman of The Smiths has cancelled a concert in Reykjavik, Iceland after the venue refused not to sell meat on the night of his appearance.
"I love Iceland and I have waited a long time to return," Morrissey told a fan site, "but I shall leave the Harpa Concert Hall to their cannibalistic flesh-eating bloodlust."
Though he may sound severe, this isn't just some fleeting passion of his. Morrissey once abandoned stage at Coachella mid-performance because he could "smell burning flesh" — fumes from the backstage barbecue.
Critics describe his behavior as "bizarre" and "silly tokenism," yet he still persists.
The tour recently sent an email titled "Morrissey Catering Stipulation" to the staff at Ireland's Odyssey Arena, telling them that burgers and hot dogs were banned during his upcoming show. And perhaps out of unconditional love for the musician, they've agreed to his stipulations.
We applaud Morrissey for how firmly he stands by his morals. Though his word choices tend to be rather graphic in nature, he's clearly creating the stir he intended to in order to prevent the suffering of animals.
