Study: Yoga Helps You Relax
According to researchers at the Boston University School of Medicine, the regular practice of yoga postures produces an uptick in GABA, a neurotransmitter believed to regulate the nervous system. Low levels of GABA have been found in people with mood and anxiety disorders.
This same team of researchers also reported in August of this year that people who practiced yoga three times a week for an hour reported less anxiety and better mood than folks who walked for the same amount of time each week.
