Change Your Mindset To Become A Healthy, Happy & Hot Mom

With the extreme busy-ness of the holidays over, most of us are turning our attention to the New Year.

Being a mom and a woman in today's world of high expectations and changing social mores is tough: we are pulled in so many directions between, career, family and self-care.

We get sucked into "the busy trap," giving ourselves the short end of the stick sacrificing ourselves for everyone and everything else, and becoming martyr moms as a result.

You've probably heard the expression "If momma ain't happy, nobody's happy." And try as we might to put on a happy face and keep it all together, the truth is that if we are not taking time to take care of ourselves everything suffers.

I think now is the perfect time for a revolution, a dramatic change in the way we do motherhood, a shift in perspective from martyr mom to happy, healthy and hot mom.

It's time to start choosing to place priority on yourself, your thoughts, your needs, your health and happiness so you have MORE to give to everything and everyone you love most.

Are you ready for a resolution-revolution? A whole new way of setting goals as a real mom in the real world? A way to put yourself back on your list of priorities? Now's your chance.

Using 2015 as your guide let's set some intentions to rock the New Year as a happy, healthy and hot mom!

1. What are at least two things that would really make you happy this year?

Once you became a mom, I bet you put a lot of your hobbies, dreams and passions on pause or worse, on full stop. You got so wrapped up in the lives of your kids that you almost forgot what made you happy.

But being a mom doesn't mean you should live through your kids. Your kids need you to be a role model, not a wanna be. Happy kids need happy parents who lead by example.

Take action: Get back to a hobby and pursue a passion project to let your happiness shine through.

2. What is something you could give up that would make you healthier this year?

Let's talk about lowering your stress level: this could be as simple as ending the glorification of busy-ness by banishing that word from your vocabulary.

It's simple: "busy" is a self-fulfilling prophecy. The more you say it, the more you believe it and the more you feel the stress and other negative emotions associated with a constant state of busy-ness.

Take Action: This year give it up, instead of telling people how busy you are tell them what's going on in your life or try talking about your re-found hobby or the passion projects you're pursuing. You will have better connection and better conversation.

3. What is one thing that would make you feel really hot this year?

The word "hot" has got a bad rap. In my opinion, "hotness" isn't just about the way you look, it's about the way you feel. Hot is holding your head high and walking in a room with confidence, hot is stepping up to and overcoming a challenge and yes, hot can even be rockin' some cool shoes and a sexy outfit.

Take action: What really makes you feel hot is your ability embrace who you are, live your truth and let it give you power… now that's hot!

4: What are three to five of the MOST important things you'd like to do, see, read or learn this year?

Think about the top things that are MOST important to you and write those things down. Just a few.

When you get so wrapped up in the busy-ness and doing the things you think you should do, overwhelm sets in and you lose sight of what's most important to you.

Take action: If it doesn't make you feel happy, healthy or hot and it isn't on your Most Important list…let it go, LET IT GO!
