The idea of butter as a health hazard has faced many a contender as of late. With everyone from Mark Bittman touting its renaissance to a particularly memorable Time cover this summer with a simple command "Eat Butter," it's clear that butter is no longer the enemy.
Turns out, saturated fat, like the one found in butter, has no proven link to heart disease as was previously thought, but rather it's the trans fats, additives and sugar found in many processed foods, like butter alternatives, that are putting our health at risk.
Butter, in its true form, is rich in fat-soluble vitamins, healthy saturated fats and fatty acids. However, not all butter is created equal.
