We just experienced a particularly powerful energetic gateway on December 21, the winter solstice.
As an intuitive yoga teacher and healer, I dedicated the solstice this year to letting go of the past, for healing and spiritual growth. Nature teaches us that life is in a constant state of change, as witnessed with different seasons and new rhythms.
Whether this was a challenging year for you, or a particularly great one, now is a great time of year for emotional release. With the New Year soon to come, it's natural to reflect on the past, and in some cases, we ruminate a bit too much.
So here are three tips to help you address things in the past, and make productive changes for the future — all without getting down on yourself. Instead, you can make the most of this time of year's energetic shift and get ready to welcome in the New Year with brand new possibilities ...
1. Complete unfinished projects.
Do you have any unfinished projects hanging over your head? Use this precious time to complete them. I just completed a big administration task that has taken me several months to finish. The feeling I have right now is one of such relief and even joy. In fact, I can't help but wonder now, If I can do this, what else is possible?!
Do you have any incomplete projects that you would like to finish or manifest? Here are a few examples ...
- Declutter your wardrobe.
- Submit your tax returns.
- Finish writing your book.
- Complete the plan for your dream business!
Whatever you focus on getting completed, you will be making life so much more enjoyable for yourself in the future. Consider getting some extra help if you need to.
2. Heal stuck relationships.
Are there any relationships in your life that you would like to heal or even lovingly release from your life?
Healthy relationships give you energy and feed your soul. Unhealthy ones drain your life force energy, leaving you feeling tired and exhausted. Good communication can repair damaged relationships and can even heal broken friendships.
Remember that the most important relationship that you can start healing today is the one you have with yourself. Remind yourself that any past failures and mistakes are integral to the growth process of being human! Celebrate them and in the process, give yourself permission to move forward.
Before you move on to next year, make a commitment to review your relationships with others and yourself. Forgive generously, so that you can start your new year on a clean slate.
3. Repay small debts.
When you owe someone money but don't repay it, this will undoubtedly affect you and your energy. Money is an energetic force and you want to keep that energy flowing freely. When you have small debts that are not being addressed, it creates a feeling of being stuck, which may manifest as guilt, shame and/or lack of abundance.
Make a promise to get any outstanding debts repaid today. Send a text to meet up, transfer the money to their bank account or write them a cheque and post it. If it is a larger amount that you can't pay all of it at once, make an agreement to get it repaid over a period of time.
Incredible magic can happen when you make it your priority to fully complete on all your 2014 commitments. Don't leave things hanging around. Get them sorted so that you can enter the next year unencumbered from the past and able to greet 2015 with lots of space for new possibilities and opportunities.
