It may go without saying that a lot of body shaming goes on in Hollywood. People either look too skinny, too fat, too old, or like they've had too much work done. No one can ever win — except Julia Roberts, who is speaking out about the pressures on women in Hollywood.
In an interview with YOU magazine, the 46-year-old actress said not getting a face-lift in her 40s is a risk to her career. In an industry that prizes youth (especially in women), it's an anomaly to see an A-list star choose not to follow the crowd, even though her career could suffer negative consequences.
The Telegraph has more:
Roberts said she had found peace through "studying yoga on a more conscious level" and de-cluttering her life.
"It's about non-grasping, non-hoarding, cleaning out your closet, dusting out your mind and letting go of the things that weigh you down mentally and emotionally.
"There's a lightness to my life now — an airy quality of not taking things too seriously. That's happiness."
We think she's a great role model, not just for aging women, but for people of all ages who feel pressure to fit into a certain mold. It's important to find peace within yourself instead of judging others based on their appearance — even if they've undergone plastic surgery.
What do you think of Roberts' choice to never go under the knife?
