How To Find Your Soul's True Purpose In Life
I believe that our purpose in life is to gather up all of our strengths, talents, and super powers, and use them to achieve everything we want.
Writing that best-selling book. Quitting that dreadful job to backpack through the Andes. Opening that organic coffee shop.
You begin this process by allowing yourself to dream big dreams and imagine what's possible for you. Here are four simple steps to get started:
1. Create your "List of Dreams."
You're a grownup, and you’re allowed to have your cake and eat it too. So make sure you’re asking the universe for what you really want!
Grab three pieces of paper and label each one "six months," "12 months," "five years." Then write down everything you want to Be, Do, or Have within that time. Let your mind flow free and be completely honest with yourself.
Do you want to become a certified yoga teacher? Do you want to spend a month in Paris every summer? Do you want to become a food blogger and make your first $10,000?
This is your chance to dream big, without any limitations.
2. Imagine your 100%.
The most important part of finding your purpose is to define what you want, so you know where you're headed.
Let's pretend you have all the money you need and time is not an issue. You have the education, the support, and the skills. You have all the "lucky breaks," all the connections, and all the resources you could ever need.
What does your "perfect" life look like? Imagine your ideal lifestyle. What is your ideal job? Where are you living? Who are you surrounded by? How do you spend each day?
If you could guarantee it would happen, what would your life look like?
3. Visualize like it's your job.
Whatever you can imagine, you can make happen. That's why you must visualize your goals with as much detail and as frequently as possible.
Let yourself feel the excitement and the butterflies in your belly. Pretend it’s yours. Pretend you've made it.
You want these visions to become vividly clear in your mind. The more clear your goals become, the more confidence you will feel and the more motivated you will become to work on them.
4. Be like Beyoncé.
OK, so maybe you don't actually want to be Beyoncé, but you can be just as fierce, in your own way.
You've imagined who you'd be and what your life would look like if you achieved all of your goals.
Now begin to see the path to get there. What's your first step? And the next one? Do one thing every day that will get you closer to that 100%.
Until you've taken action, this whole process has just been a fun exercise in daydreaming.
