Sometimes, we're too busy (or not motivated enough) to get to the gym. But that doesn't have to mean skipping a day of working out entirely!
Here are four crazy exercises that anyone can do their own bathroom:
1. Get toned on the toilet, and never sit down.
Yup, you heard right! Use your toilet to get your bum back in fighting form. Squatting over the toilet rather than sitting down will not only strengthen your back muscles but the glutes as well.
Here’s a cool little factoid: anatomically, we were never meant to be sitting down to urinate or eliminate! Don’t believe me? Sitting down on a toilet can actually get in the way of good health. Humans are designed to squat to eliminate which had been a century-long tradition. Then, when the modern toilet came along, it brought with it a slew of ailments such as hemorrhoids, constipation and appendicitis (a large percentage of which was associated with poor bathroom posture).
So work that backside and SQUAT, don’t sit!
2. Do mini-calf raises when applying makeup.
If your makeup routine could use a little spicing up, then get ready to lift as you line! Make the best of your makeup session by doing mini-calf raises while you get ready for your day. Start by placing your feet hip-width apart. Then, slowly raise your heels until your weight is on the balls of your feet. Lift the heels up as far as they can go, pause then lower.
Be sure to do 20 reps of these calf raises and complete three to four sets!
3. Blow dry your hair upside down!
Get ready to get your blood coursing up and down your body with this cool little tip. Blow drying your hair upside down will not only give it a boost of volume by brushing in the opposite direction of your hair growth but doing this will also keep you looking young.
Draping upside down to blow dry your locks can relieve all sorts of bodily tension from back pain to tense muscles. Not to mention, it will increase your relaxation by allowing blood flow to the brain while simultaneously engaging the abdomen. Tuck forward and let your head hang as you dry!
4. Do leg lifts while you brush your teeth!
Make the most of your teeth brushing by adding a little legwork! If you're like me, exercise can tend to get a little “BLAH” at times.
Work those thighs with standing side leg lifts (my personal leg lift of choice) by taking your straight leg out to the side until it's at a 45 degree angle. You will begin to build strength in your hip flexors while working off that organic cookie you snuck last night! Be sure to do two to three reps of 10 lifts per side.
The above tips are great on a day where you don’t have extra time to get in a good sweaty workout. Always remember, that anything is something and that anything is better than doing nothing! Enjoy!
