10 Tips To Declutter Your Entire Life

Written by Cat O'Connor

Spring is a time of renewal and rebirth — a time to clear out any clutter that may have accumulated over the winter months; physically, mentally and emotionally, as well as a time revisit and re-establish your life intentions and goals. When you clear space you create opportunities to grow and elevate yourself towards your highest self.

Here are ten tips to help you declutter your physical and mental spaces and grow:

1. Purge your wardrobe.

Go through your closets and let go of anything that you haven't worn in the past year. (Excuses begone! Let go. You will feel better!)

2. Commit.

Apply the one for one rule: for anything new that you bring into your home, commit to removing at least one thing in its place.

3. Donate.

Give anything you choose to let go of to a local shelter or host a clothing/shoe/household item swap with friends and family. Or, you can even generate some extra money by selling unwanted possessions on eBay!

4. Go offline.

Schedule 'off the grid' blocks of time for you and your family. Disconnect from your phone, shut down your laptop and connect with nature, family and friends. This simple weekly commitment will clear space and help you to build a stronger relationship with yourself, your loved ones and the incredible planet of which you are apart.

5. Take a yoga class, or practice at home.

Regular yoga practice helps to wring out the physical and mental junk from our busy and often not-so-healthy day-to-day lives.

6. Walk.

Take a walk with no destination in mind. Walking stimulates both sides of our brain simultaneously, helping to reduce stress, ignite creativity and improve overall mental clarity.

7. Write.

Set aside time each day or week to write down your goals and intentions for the day, the week, the month and the year. There is power in putting your ideas down on paper. Take this a step further and include action items for each goal.

8. Stop telling yourself that you can't.

That voice in your head that tells you that you’re too busy, too broke, too tired is wrong! You have a choice. You CAN do this.

9. Choose.

Intentionally slow down, be kind to yourself and free up space to truly LIVE up to your highest potential free from the clutter and junk that’s been holding you back.

10. Get out there to start clearing and growing!
