The star of MTV's Yoga & Pilates DVD series, Kristin McGee has choreographed countless DVDs, including her two newest, Weight Loss Pilates and Beginners Pilates. She's appeared on Good Morning America and The Tyra Banks Show and has graced the covers of Pilates Style and Fit Yoga magazines.

Here's what Kristin had to say about the age-old question that everyone seems to ask:

"I love them both so much and for different and similar reasons. I think with both disciplines, having a good teacher is crucial. I also think a beginner needs to be open to exploring a few sessions in order to decide what really resonates with them."

"If someone is more interested in core conditioning and likes to see external results quickly, then I recommend Pilates."

"For those who need a way to de-stress and maybe go a bit slower and can be patient with the learning curve in yoga, then I say start with yoga."

"Many yoga classes involve more then just the physical aspect; and may incorporate chanting, breathing or yogic philosophy in the session. Pilates always sticks to the exercises and the more internal shifts happen subconsciously."

"They both are amazing ways to develop internal strength, stamina, balance, flexibility, better posture, stronger spine and overall health and well being."
