Being healthy and happy isn’t about the number on the scale or being able to cram your ass into a pair of skinny jeans.
It’s about feeling and looking your best from the inside out. How you nourish yourself, move your body and feed your spirituality all play a part in creating a healthier, more confident and happier you.
As a trainer and coach in the fitness industry, I’ve seen many of my clients fall under the "magic bullet" spell. Many of us search for that elusive tool that will make us look and feel better right now.
Whether it’s the lure of losing 10 pounds overnight or popping a pill for instant energy, we are seduced into thinking this is what will make me happy. I say enough! Gimmicks don’t equal healthy and happy.
Here are a few real, action-based steps you can take right now, today, to live with vibrant energy, loving and accepting who you are with a smile on your face. We have the ability to reshape and enhance our constitution, the state of being our mind and body are currently in, by incorporating any or all of these simple, natural ideas.
1. Eat one raw meal today.
Load up on organic greens, colorful veggies, fruits, and raw nuts and seeds. You’ll feel energized, clean, and your body will love the boost in vitamins, fiber and antioxidants.
2. Embrace positive thoughts.
If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you’d never think a negative thought again. Some studies show that personality traits like optimism and pessimism can affect multiple areas of your health and wellbeing. So when that negative voice starts chattering in your head (There’s no way I can get better at this) Acknowledge it, then shut it down by replacing it with a positive thought (I can do this and I will get better at it).
3. Get juicy.
Organic juicing immediately rejuvenates and energizes your body. The nutrient rich, anti-aging, anti-cancer properties revitalize you quickly without added sugars, caffeine, or preservatives. You’ll even feel juicier.
4. Get moving.
Our bodies immediately respond to exercise, literally. Within the first few seconds positive physical benefits kick-in, elevating your mood, releasing feel-good endorphins and lowering stress. Walk on your lunch break, take the kids to the park and play, meet a friend for a jog or hit that yoga class you’ve been putting off.
5. Get a massage.
Like exercise, you can reap extraordinary, immediate benefits with massage. Ease pain, anxiety and depression. Increase blood flow to plump up skin. Encourage lymphatic drainage. Boost immunity, reduce stress and improve sleep.
6. Drink more warm water with lemon.
I know you know this but many of us do NOT drink enough water! Ditch the sodas and other fancy commercial drinks and replace with plenty of “living” water. Tap water and many bottled waters can contain contaminants. Water helps you maintain a healthy body weight, have clearer, glowing skin and can ease inflammation. Lemon is a natural energizer and helps flush out unwanted toxins.
7. Take 5.
When you allow yourself time to relax and renew, the rest of your day will fall into alignment. Turn off the gadgets, dim the lights, and chill out for five minutes. Sit or lay down, close your eyes, still your body, and quiet your mind. Breathe in positive energy, exhale negative energy.
8. Create a happy environment.
Little tweaks can make a big difference, bringing some pleasure into your day. When we’re good to ourselves, we’re more likely to make healthy choices. Brighten your desk with fresh flowers, light a candle during the day, fill a bowl full of fresh fruit or diffuse your favorite essential oil.
9. And lastly, trust yourself.
Don’t compare yourself to others or feel pressured to jump on the latest fad band-wagon. If you feel like trying a new style of eating or exercise because it resonates with you, go for it! Let your inner voice and desires guide you. Ultimately, the only person who knows whats best for you, what makes you happy, is you. Tap into your inner light and power. Embrace your unique mind and body every single day.
Life is full of extraordinary gifts, one being the ability to learn from others. Please take a moment and share your ideas for a healthier and happier mind and body. I’d love to hear from you!
