Remember Michelle Obama's "Chefs Move to Schools" speech from last month? Well, celebrity chef, Bill Telepan, is taking action. Telepan is the executive chef of Wellness in the Schools non-profit in New York City, which hopes to create "healthier places to learn."
"I think there are a lot of kids out there that don't have the opportunity to eat this way," Telepan says, speaking of the fresh food you might find at his self-named restaurant. "They get their free meals from school and I want to give them a chance to eat better and learn how to eat better. That's really important to me."
Right now Telepan's program is working to make over the menus at eight city schools, and hopes to take on another twenty schools next year. His buddy, celebrity chef, Marcus Samuelson is helping out, too.
Let the Food Revolution continue!
