I'm intelligent and happy. You don't have to be smart to change your attitude or fundamental perspectives. There is no "one universal correct way" to look at the world. Some perspectives tend to be pessimistic, other's don't. Switching from one to the other isn't idealistic and doesn't ignore the facts, but a fresh perspective can take out the bleak nihilism.
