Grid tie solar refers to solar energy that is connected to the energy grid and involves setting up a net metering agreement with your utility to sell back energy for an agreed upon price. Grid tie is certainly the route to take if your local municipality rewards you by paying back a higher rate or provides some financial incentive to do so.
