Our Quick 101 Guide to Acupuncture

By MindBodyGreen
Acupuncture for BeginnersWhat is Acupuncture? Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medicine practice in which needles are stuck into different "meridians" in our skin.

These "meridians" are where "Qi", i.e., energy, flows through our body. Meridians have very specific points and stimulate the energy of that specific point - either adding energy or removing energy.

What can Acupuncture treat? Back pain, headaches, nausea, stress, weight loss, infertility, and people have even used Acupuncture therapy to help them quit smoking.

Many just use Acupuncture as a means to help them attain an increased feeling of overall wellness.

Do the needles hurt? No, the needles do not hurt.

Remember: Acupuncture is a type of holistic therapy - treating the mind / body / soul. Like any holistic treatment, it's important to go into Acupuncture therapy with an open and willing mind!
