Gisele's Mindful Way of Reducing Meat Intake (And Getting Her Son Hooked on Veggies)

31-year-old supermodel, yogi, organic skin care entrepreneur, and eco-superhero, Gisele Bundchen, has taken a mindful approach to dramatically reducing her meat  intake -- blessing the meat before she eats it.

Gisele grew up in the meat-obsessed culture of Brazil, so cutting out meat has been a work in process for her. She tells British Vogue that although she loves steak, she also loves animals and is trying to reduce her meat intake -- limiting herself to 'red meat once every two weeks.' She prays before she eats meat, saying:

"What I find really helpful — you might think I’m crazy — is that before I eat any meat I always take one second of silence to put my hands over it and bless it and be grateful at least that it was a life."
Sounds like a good way to become more conscious of what you're eating, right? As Kathy Freston says, 'leaning in' to a plant-based diet and slowly cutting down on meats and processed foods makes for lasting change.

But Gisele is determined to get her son hooked on veggies as she's turned vegetables into dessert! She says:
"My children, they are like white canvases. When Benjamin eats broccoli, he thinks it’s dessert."
Namaste to that!
