It's no secret that sleep is an important part of a happy, healthy life. And hey, if it means longer dreams of Zac Efron, well, we want more of it.

You've probably tried the usual have-better-sleep suspects; no screens a few hours before bed, take a long bath to relax, read some fiction to unwind, exercise. But alas, you still can't keep the daytime yawning at bay.

Maybe it's time you tried some not-so-usual remedies? That's right, folks, I'm talking healing crystals. Chosen carefully, they can help you relax and get a better night's sleep. Here are a few to keep beside your bed or under your pillow for a few extra peaceful ZzzzZzzzzs.

1. Amethyst

Whoa, Nelly, this is one protective stone. Who knew spiritual armor could be so pretty? Due to its protective nature, amethyst is a natural tranquilizer that helps you reach higher levels of meditation and consciousness. I don't know about you, but sleep comes a whole lot easier when I'm not stressed. It vibrates on a pretty high spiritual level, too, so don't be surprised if it brings on some intuitive dreams...yep, side effects may include dreaming up winning lottery numbers.

2. Blue Calcite

A distinct shade of soothing blue, this crystal is well-known for relaxation and recuperation. Essentially, it can help you switch off. Blue calcite is said to promote relaxation by releasing pent-up emotions and soothing your nerves. It can also help absorb your negative energy, filter it, and return it as positive energy.

3. Magnesite

I'm gonna be honest, this isn't the prettiest stone going around. But as long as it helps you keep your eyes shut, you're not really going to notice, are you? Magnesite is said to attract peace and relaxation, so it's awesome for meditation and catching some Zs. It welcomes a sense of harmony, calming any emotional stressors that may be keeping you up at night.

4. Topaz

Topaz may make up for what magnesite lacked in looks, but don't be fooled; this isn't just a pretty rock. Topaz soothes, recharges, and heals, directing energy where you need it most. It can release tension, helping you to relax for a less fitful, tossing-and-turning sleep.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a nap to take care of.
